CHIRO-MASSAGE

Chiro-Massage is a customized therapeutic massage ultilizing specialized massage and stretching techniques designed to specifically compliment and enhance your chiropractic adjustments.  A typical chiro-massage session will incorporate an assessment of your muscular tension, sensitivity and range of motion in your neck, rotator cuff region (shoulders) and hips. From this brief assessment by your massage therapist, she will incorporate a blend of specialized massage and stretching techniques consisting of Neuromuscular Massage Therapy, Myofascial Release, Active Release Stretching and/or Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF).  Thirty minutes is the maximum duration for each session and in most cases is covered by your health insurance.  It is required that you are under the active care of a chiropractor in the clinic or office where you are receiving your Chiro-Massage session and on the day you are scheduled for your adjustments.

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT)

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT) is a specific pressure style of massage therapy directly targeting trigger points and chronic muscular tension areas.  You, as the client receiving this advanced style of therapy, actively participates during each pressure release sequence by the simple act of breathing deeply while the therapist holds the point of pressure for 8 to 12 seconds or until you feel the pressure is less.

Conditions relieved with NMT: classic muscular tension headaches, stiff necks, lower back pain, trigger points, whiplash, sciatica

Myofascial Release Technique

Myo means muscle and fascia is the thin membrane connective tissue that forms a weblike layer over the muscle, hence myofascial.  This style of therapy is slow and steady with just enough pressure under the therapists’ hands to create movement in the fascia.  It is gentle to receive and creates an immediate relaxing effect on the area being released as well as on the nervous system.
Conditions: chronic muscular tension
Fibromyalgia

Sports Massage: Two types pre-event and post-event

Sports massage is geared toward the need of the athlete amateur or professional.  A pre-event sports massage will focus on helping activate the muscles to get ready to perform for the athletic event. It will be used as part of the warm up phase prior to the event.  Different massage strokes and speed of strokes are used to warm up muscles and increase blood flow.
A post event session will incorporate more of a traditional style of massage will slower strokes to induce the recovery time on muscles as well as utilize stretching.
